Prayer for Fr. Andrew J. Showers
Why We Are Praying
Father Andrew J. Showers, age 37 and ordained in 2017, has recently been arrested on serious charges including attempted child enticement, attempted use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, and attempted second-degree sexual assault of a minor. Authorities used an undercover operation where he allegedly believed he was messaging a 14-year-old girl. Upon arrival at the meeting location, he was arrested. ([WMTV], [OSV News])
“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” — Proverbs 14:34
Background & Ministry Context
Fr. Showers served as director of the Office of Worship for the Diocese of Madison and parochial vicar at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. His previous assignments included All Saints in Berlin, Our Lady of the Lake in Green Lake, plus roles in Madison, Waunakee, Clinton, and Wisconsin Dells. He was ordained in 2017. Recent Developments Requiring Prayer
• Arrested on August 24, 2025, after responding to an online enticement operation. He was found at the meeting site with hotel keys and allegedly a medication. Charges include using a computer for a sex crime, child enticement, and attempted sexual assault. He has been removed from all public ministry. ([OSV News], [Fox11], [WMTV])
• The Diocese affirms there were no previous allegations before this incident; the investigation is ongoing, and Fr. Showers is presumed innocent until proven guilty. ([OSV News], [ABC7 Chicago])

Our Merciful Father, we approach You trusting Your justice and grace. You heal the brokenhearted and bind up wounds. (Psalms 147:3)
We lift up those who may have been harmed or endangered by these allegations. Comfort them, protect them, and bring healing to their lives. Surround them with Christ-like caregivers.
We pray for the Church in Wisconsin—its leaders, faithful, and communities—to walk in truth, shepherd with love, and pursue holiness amid confusion and grief.
For Andrew Showers, we do not condone sin—but we serve the God who forgives all who come in repentance. Confront him with his brokenness, lead him to true sorrow over sin, and usher him into Your arms of mercy. (Luke 15:7)
We ask for salvation—for all involved—that Christ's sacrifice becomes the ground of forgiveness, cleansing, and new life. Draw many into Your kingdom, even through this dark trial. (Titus 2:11–12)
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Healer. Amen.
