Brief summary — latest developments

Recent reporting shows that an Abuja-based pastor, Amos Isah — founder/leader of the Prophetic Voice/Prophetic Victory Voice of Fire ministry in Gwagwalada — has been accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old member of his church’s media unit. He was arrested in June 2025, arraigned in July, granted bail and subsequently seen leading services after his release; his case is ongoing with the trial scheduled to resume in late September 2025.

The family of the alleged victim has since urged public interest and attendance at courtroom proceedings as the legal process continues. Media and public reactions have been intense, with strong calls for justice, protection for children and integrity from religious leaders.

About Pastor Amos Isah

Reporters identify Amos Isah as a well-known pastor in Abuja who leads a prophetic/charismatic congregation (reported as Prophetic Voice / Prophetic Victory Voice of Fire Ministry). He has a public profile in the local faith scene and social media presence; his ministry has attracted followers who celebrated his return to the pulpit after his release on bail.

Because this matter is in the courts and the allegations concern a minor, the reporting uses protective language about the victim (name withheld) and labels the accusations as alleged. We urges visitors to keep both the presumption of due process and the pastoral call to compassion and truth in view.

Recent timeline & legal status

  • 26 May 2025 (reported date of alleged incident): The alleged assault is reported to have occurred on this date, according to the victim’s account reported to journalists.
  • 18 June 2025: Police arrested the pastor after the family reported the incident.
  • 22–25 July 2025: He was arraigned and later granted bail on medical/health grounds; bail was reported to be N5 million (reports mention an earlier publicized figure and subsequent reduction).
  • Late July — August 2025: Social media and local reporting showed the pastor returning to church services after release on bail, which generated public debate.
  • Trial resumption: Reports indicate the trial was scheduled to resume on or around 30 September 2025; the victim’s family asked the public and civil-society groups to attend court proceedings.

Why we are asking you to pray

Prayer is not a substitute for justice, counseling or professional help — but it is our first response as a body in Christ. Below are layered reasons to pray, with practical descriptions so those praying understand the heart of each petition.

  1. For the alleged victim (a 14-year-old girl): healing, protection and dignity.

Children who suffer sexual violence carry deep physical, psychological and spiritual wounds. Pray for immediate medical care, trauma counseling, restoration of dignity, ongoing safety, and a community that protects rather than blames. Provisions for long-term therapy and educational continuity are crucial. (Scripture: Psalms 34:18; Matthew 19:14.)

  2. For the victim’s family: courage, provision and truth to prevail.

Families who report abuse often face intimidation, stigma and financial strain. Pray for courage to stand in court, for lawful protection, for witnesses to remember truthfully, and for the family’s emotional and material needs to be met. (Scripture: Psalms 82:3–4; Isaiah 1:17.)

  3. For the justice system: fairness, thorough investigation and protection of witnesses.

Pray that investigators, prosecutors and judges act with integrity, that evidence is preserved, that the case is not delayed or undermined, and that the court process upholds the best interests of the child. Pray for the Lord to convict hearts and guide legal professionals toward impartiality. (Scripture: Romans 13:1; Proverbs 21:15.)

  4. For the accused (Pastor Amos Isah): repentance, accountability and salvation.

We pray for true repentance and that if wrongdoing is proven, he will accept responsibility, submit to lawful consequences, and find his hope and transformation in Christ. Our prayer is both for repentance and for the convicting, restorative work of the Holy Spirit while also praying that the victim’s justice is not hindered. (Scripture: 2 Corinthians 7:10; Acts 3:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17.)

  5. For the church and congregants: truth, pastoral accountability and child protection.

Where leaders fail, the church must repent and rebuild trust. Pray for church leaders and congregations to implement child-safeguarding policies, provide care to survivors, and not protect power over people. Pray for humility and a reformed leadership culture. (Scripture: James 3:1; Matthew 18:6–7.)

  6. For survivors and those triggered by the news: emotional and spiritual support.

News like this can re-traumatize other survivors. Pray for accessible counseling, community support groups, and for churches to be safe places for healing. (Scripture: Psalms 147:3.)

  7. For the media, influencers and public discourse: truth, sensitivity and restraint.

Pray that reporting is fair and sensitive (respecting the minor’s privacy), that social media discourse does not become a witch-hunt or smear, and that the public uses its voice to demand justice rather than rush to irreversible judgments. (Scripture: Proverbs 15:28; Ephesians 4:29.)

  8. For investigators and NGOs supporting children: resources, protection and success.

Pray that civil-society organizations, child-protection agencies and healthcare providers have the resources and legal access they need to help the child and her family. (Scripture: Galatians 6:2.)

  9. For community repentance and prevention: cultural change.

Pray for hearts to change where abuse is normalized or hidden. Pray for education, robust child-safeguarding training and policies in churches and communities across the region so fewer children are at risk. (Scripture: Isaiah 58:6–12; Micah 6:8.)

  10. For legal fairness and an end to bribery or intimidation.

Where reporting alleges attempts to buy freedom or influence outcomes, pray against corruption and for transparent proceedings where money and influence do not override truth. (Scripture: Proverbs 17:23; 1 Peter 3:12.)

    Prayer

    • For the victim: Lord, bind up her wounds. Give her wise and compassionate medical and psychological care. Restore her dignity and future. Let her find safety in community and in You.
    • For the family: Grant them courage, provision and the endurance to see this process through. Protect them from intimidation or bribery.
    • For the court and investigators: Give them clarity, integrity and protection for witnesses. Bring every relevant evidence to light and grant the judge wisdom to render a just verdict.
    • For Pastor Amos Isah: If he is guilty, we pray for true repentance, for the Lord to break the hardness of his heart, for accountability to be accepted, and for a life transformed by Christ. If he is innocent, we pray that the truth may fully clear him so that injustice is not done.
    • For the church: Bring humility, a willingness to reform, and action to protect the vulnerable. Let the church be a place of safety and repentance, not cover-up.
