Quick summary — recent developments

Current reporting shows Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi is facing an investigation stemming from an allegation of sexual assault that dates back to February 2023. French prosecutors have asked that he be sent to trial on a rape charge; Hakimi denies the accusation and says he has cooperated with investigators. :

In recent days Hakimi has publicly addressed the matter in interviews, describing its emotional toll on him and his family while reiterating his denial. The case remains in the judicial process and is treated as alleged in public reporting.

About Achraf Hakimi — background & profile

Achraf Hakimi (born 4 November 1998) is a Moroccan international footballer who has played for top European clubs including Real Madrid (youth / senior appearances), Borussia Dortmund (loan), Inter Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain. He is widely known for his speed, attacking full-back play and international performances for Morocco.

Off the field Hakimi has a large global profile with significant social media reach, commercial endorsements, and public interest in his private life; he is a public figure with a family and children. This public visibility increases the media attention and public scrutiny surrounding legal allegations.

Reported timeline & legal status

  • February 24–25, 2023: The alleged incident at the center of the investigation is reported to have occurred on a night in late February 2023; the complainant’s account dates to that period.
  • 2023–2024: Investigations and judicial procedures were opened in France; Hakimi has at times been placed under judicial supervision while denying wrongdoing.
  • August 2025: French prosecutors requested that Hakimi be referred to a criminal court for trial on a rape charge. That request does not equal a conviction; it means prosecutors believe there is sufficient evidence to seek a trial.
  • September 2025 (recent): Hakimi has publicly spoken about the emotional impact on him and his family and reiterated his innocence while saying he has cooperated with the inquiry. The judicial process continues.

Why we are asking you to pray — multiple, layered reasons

Prayer is our immediate spiritual response. This is not a substitute for legal processes, trauma care, or professional support — but prayer forms the moral and spiritual framework in which Christians act. Below are detailed reasons to pray, explained so readers understand the heart of each petition.

  1. For any alleged victim(s): healing, dignity and protection.

Sexual violence — and the trauma that follows — wounds body, mind and spirit. Pray for medical care, trauma counseling, restoration of dignity, safety, and long-term support (education, livelihood, counseling). (Psalms 34:18; Isaiah 61:1–3.)

  2. For the accused (Achraf Hakimi): truth, repentance if guilty, and salvation in Christ.

We pray for the truth to come to light. If wrongdoing is established, we pray for genuine repentance (not mere damage control), for acceptance of lawful consequences, and for a heart transformed by the Gospel. If innocent, we pray for vindication and restoration of reputation. (2 Corinthians 7:10; Acts 3:19; Proverbs 21:15.)

  3. For Hakimi’s family and children: protection and emotional care.

Public allegations deeply affect families—especially children who may be exposed to shame or stigma. Pray for their emotional health, private protection, and wise counsel. (Psalms 91:11; Matthew 11:28.)

  4. For the justice system: integrity, impartial investigation and protection of all parties.

Pray that investigators, prosecutors and judges act with impartiality, that evidence is preserved and handled fairly, and that the rights of everyone involved are respected. (Proverbs 21:3; Romans 13:1.)

  5. For the church and sports institutions: moral clarity, safeguarding and pastoral care.

Sports organizations, churches and faith communities must protect the vulnerable, hold leaders accountable, and provide pastoral care that is compassionate and just. Pray that these institutions choose truth and protection over reputation. (James 3:1; Matthew 18:6–7.)

  6. For survivors and the wider public affected by this news: careful, compassionate response and access to support.

Media storms can retraumatize survivors and distort public discourse. Pray for sensitive reporting, responsible social media use, and the strengthening of services that help survivors heal. (Ephesians 4:29; Psalms 147:3.)

  7. For reform where needed: prevention, accountability and child/adult protection policies.

Pray for systemic reform in clubs, churches, schools and social networks—better safeguarding policies, education on consent, and transparent accountability structures. (Isaiah 1:17; Micah 6:8.)

  8. For justice without vengeance: that God’s righteousness would prevail.

Pray that justice is pursued, not to destroy, but to protect the vulnerable and to restore where possible. Pray that vengeance is not left in human hands, but that God’s justice and mercy shape the outcome. (Romans 12:19; Psalms 82:3–4.)
