Who are the lost that Jesus came to save?

Sin has caused humanity to lose its connection to God (Romans 3:23). But according to Luke 19:10, Jesus Christ came into the world in order to save the lost. He achieved this by dying (Acts 4:12; John 3:16). Jesus made it clear that it was His purpose to find and save the lost. He extended His hand to embrace tax collectors, sinners, and outcasts, extending an invitation to follow Him and the prospect of salvation (Luke 5:31–32; Luke 15:1–7).

Jesus told several parables, like the ones about the prodigal son, the lost coin, and the lost sheep, to show how determined God is to find the lost and how happy He is to see them again. No matter your history, race, or past wrongdoing, you are included in the good news of Jesus' atoning work (Romans 3:22–24).
